HOW IT WORKS
01

Choose audio

Record system/tab audio only, or add your microphone for narration.

02

Pick what to share

Start recording and select a screen, window, or tab in the browser dialog.

03

Stop & download

Hit stop, preview the result, and download the video — no watermark.

Record your screen online — right now, no install

You can record your screen in Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari this second — no extension and no download required. This free online screen recorder captures your full screen, a single window, or a browser tab using your browser’s built-in capture API, with no watermark on the result. It is ideal for quick bug reports, tutorials, product walkthroughs, and feedback clips.

Capture audio the right way

You can record system or tab audio, your microphone, or both mixed together. Two things to remember: choose your audio mode before you start, and tick “Share audio” in the browser’s share dialog so system sound is included. For narrated demos, the “System + microphone” option blends both into one track — it is worth a quick microphone test first to confirm your input level.

Private and unlimited

Because the recording is assembled locally and downloaded straight to your device, nothing is ever uploaded. That makes it safe for internal tools, client work, and anything confidential. There is no forced time limit and no account.

When you need more polish

A browser recorder is perfect for raw capture, but it cannot zoom into clicks, smooth your cursor, add backgrounds, or export 4K MP4s. That is where the ScreenBuddy Mac app comes in — it adds auto-zoom, spotlight and lightbox effects, a 3D MacBook frame, captions, and one-click MP4/GIF export. The browser tool gets you the clip; ScreenBuddy makes it look studio-grade.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this screen recorder really free with no watermark?
Yes. It records in your browser using the native screen-capture API, produces a clean WebM file with no watermark, and asks for no sign-up or payment. There are no time limits beyond your device’s memory.
Can I record system audio and my microphone?
Yes. Choose "System + microphone" before recording. To capture system or tab sound, also tick "Share audio" in the browser’s share dialog. The tool mixes both into a single track.
Where do my recordings go — are they uploaded?
Nowhere but your own device. The recording is assembled in your browser and downloaded directly to your computer. Nothing is uploaded to a server, which makes this safe for confidential or internal content.
What format is the recording?
The browser records WebM (VP9/VP8), which plays in most modern players and editors. If you need MP4 or a GIF, you can convert it afterwards — for example with our MP4 to GIF tool — or use ScreenBuddy for Mac for direct MP4/GIF export.
Why is there no audio in my recording?
Browser security requires you to explicitly enable "Share audio" (or "Share tab audio") in the screen-picker dialog. If that box is unticked, only video is captured. Re-record and make sure it is enabled.
Which browsers does the online screen recorder work in?
It uses the getDisplayMedia screen-capture API, which is fully supported in Chrome 72+, Edge 79+, Firefox 66+, and Opera on desktop. Safari on macOS supports it from version 13. It does not work in iOS Safari or Chrome on iPhone/iPad, because Apple blocks screen capture in mobile browsers — use the ScreenBuddy Mac app or iOS screen recording there instead.
