About ScreenBuddy

Make the important part of your product impossible to miss.

ScreenBuddy is a Mac and Windows screen recorder and editor built to turn a raw software walkthrough into a focused product demo, by the developer who made it.

Record, edit, and preview free. A one-time license is required to save or export.

Why it exists

Raw screen recordings make the viewer search. Small controls disappear, the cursor competes with the narration, and every part of the interface receives equal visual weight. ScreenBuddy was built to solve that attention problem without sending a short software walkthrough through a general-purpose editing suite.

The product combines capture and editing, then gives creators three complementary ways to direct the eye: zoom changes framing, spotlight preserves context around a region, and lightbox suppresses everything that is not currently important.

One focused production workflow

01

Record

Capture a display or application with system audio, microphone, and optional webcam input.

02

Direct attention

Use auto-zoom, manual zoom keyframes, spotlight, lightbox, cursor controls, and annotations.

03

Present

Frame the recording with backgrounds, padding, device presentation, captions, and a consistent visual style.

04

Export locally

Create MP4 or GIF files on your device, with resolutions up to 4K when the source and hardware support it.

Local media, clear network boundaries

Recording, editing, previews, and exports are processed on your Mac or Windows PC. Internet access is required for Lemon Squeezy license activation and for update checks. ScreenBuddy does not provide cloud video hosting or viewer analytics.

Platform support

ScreenBuddy v1.6.0 supports macOS 12 or later on Apple Silicon and Intel, plus Windows 10 or later on x64. The editor workflow is cross-platform. Instant mode is currently available on macOS only.

Built by Jiabin Shen

ScreenBuddy began as a focused answer to a recurring problem: creating a readable product walkthrough should not require bouncing between a recorder, a general video editor, and a separate presentation tool.

Feedback, bug reports, and workflow requests go directly to the builder. See the changelog for shipped updates or contact ScreenBuddy.
